Cheesemaking and Processing Assistant

Come join the Cheese Team at Shelburne Farms!  Currently seeking a motivated, dependable, quality-focused individual to help craft and package our award-winning farmhouse cheddar cheese.  Primary duties include:

  • Assist with cheesemaking in every step of cheese production, including making cheese, sanitation and cleaning, and testing.
  • Cut, wax, wrap, and label cheese.
  • Pack orders for shipping
  • Perform other work necessary to the cheese operation and Farm, such as support for education and marketing.

This position is hourly, 35-40 hours/week, including one weekend day, from August through December 31st.

Qualifications & Requirements: 

We are looking for a team player that is flexible, fun to work with, and wants to learn about the world of cheesemaking.  Position requires significant physical strength and endurance, including ability to lift 50+ lbs.   Dependability, cleanliness and attention to detail are essential.  Cheesemaking starts at 7:00 am and runs until 4:00 pm or later. Ideal candidate will have food processing or farm experience.
