After working in the Children's Farmyard for two seasons in 2010 and 2011, Ethan has returned full-time as an educator and professional development facilitator. He is excited to be working with VT FEED and our Sustainable Schools Project to facilitate the use of food education and sustainability as integrating contexts for school transformation. Although most of his work is with adults, Ethan also feels blessed to have the opportunity to spend time outside with children - learning about, and exploring the Farm's wonderful landscape (read: he gets to lead field trips!). Ethan holds both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Education from Saint Michael's College.
Ethan's passion for farming and sustainable agriculture has led him to WWOOF (Willing Workers on Organic Farms) in Europe and New Zealand, to work on a local diversified farm and most recently, to work on the wood's crew of a large-scale maple sugaring operation where he discovered his love of Vermont's sweetest product. In his spare time, he now operates a small sugar bush with three other partners on Elmore Mountain and enjoys thinking about the possibilities of applied permaculture on his family's 25 acres down in North Chittenden.
