Tom Nold

Chief Financial Officer

Tom joined Shelburne Farms in 2005 as a member of the senior leadership team. His CFO responsibilities include financial systems and processes; budgeting, financial reporting, and analysis for the twelve operating divisions of the Farm; working closely with the audit team in preparation of the tax returns including the 990; government contract reporting; management of the employee benefit plans such as healthcare, dental, and 401(k); presenting financial information to the Board of Directors and the Investment Committee and Audit Committee; and ensuring that the financial reports are prepared with the highest standards of ethics.

Tom is also responsible for Cheese Production and Sales, providing Human Resource support to the organization, and supporting Information Technology.

Tom began his business career in 1976, following graduation from Hamilton College with a degree in Economics.  Tom joined the General Electric Company and was recruited for the Financial Management Program. Employed within the Aerospace Group, Tom progressed through several positions within the financial organization. Tom ultimately moved to the International Marketing organization, and was asked to lead a team of marketing, engineering, and contracts personnel in the pursuit of international strategic alliances.

With an eye towards keeping his family in Vermont, Tom left GE in 1989 and joined Climb High – a small Vermont business in the outdoor industry.  As General Manager, Tom led the three facets of the business – international importation and distribution, retail, and mail order.  Climb High became the leading American distributor of European rock climbing, ice climbing, mountaineering, and backcountry skiing products.  In 1999, Tom joined the Vertek Corporation, a telecommunications consulting firm, as Chief Operating Officer. Tom developed key relationships with telecommunications executives, and led his employees with honesty and integrity throughout a tumultuous time in the industry. With the company back on solid ground, Tom joined Shelburne Farms in 2005.

Tom enjoys fly fishing, hiking, gardening, traveling, and spending time with his family and two Australian Shepherds.
