Forest to Furniture
Build a rustic table out of a slab of wood from a tree grown on the Farm! Look at the source of your table - the Shelburne Farms forest, pick out your piece of wood, and craft it into a table or bench. Prior wood working experience is helpful, but not necessary. This program is a partnership with the Shelburne Craft School.
Instructors: Chris Ramos, Shelburne Craft School Wood Shop Manager
Marshall Webb, Woodlands Manager, Shelburne Farms
Day 1 (Friday)

Day 2 (Saturday)
Choose your piece of wood and then hand plane it on outdoor work benches located in the woods near the lake. Instruction on woodworking hand tools including the disassembly and assembly of a plane, and sharpening will be covered.
Day 3 (Sunday)
Work in the woodshop to finish bench top and shape the legs and joinery for your one of a kind bench. Assemble the bench, give the wood its final surface textures, and apply a coat of finish to it.
