Camp Lottery

We appreciate your interest in Summer Youth Programs at Shelburne Farms and do our best to accommodate as many children as possible. Due to consistently high demand, Shelburne Farms uses a lottery system to fill our Summer Camps. The deadline for this year's applications was February 21, 2008. If you wish to submit a late application, please click the link below to print a paper form. We will do our best to place your children in camp. This will ensure that we have a record of your interest in camp, and if an opening occurs we will contact you. Complete and return this form to: Summer Youth Programs, Shelburne Farms, 1611 Harbor Road, Shelburne, VT 05482.

About our Lottery Process

  • When the number of applicants exceeds our capacity (last year we had over 850 applications for 600 spaces), we use a lottery system as part of our registration process.
  • After the deadline (February 21, 2008) we print lottery forms, assign each form a number, separate current annual members and nonmembers, then draw first from the member pool. Siblings are drawn together, as well as family and friend requests (if the names of each child are indicated on the application forms). If your first choice is full when we draw your number, we move on to your second choice, etc., until we find a place for your child in camp or on the waitlist.
  • After the member pool is empty, we begin drawing from the nonmember pool. If you are unsure about your member status or expiration, please call us. Though we give preference in our lottery to members, we cannot guarantee member placement in camp.
  • We invite you to send us your comments on our lottery system.

Cancellation and Refund Policy
All cancellations and refunds are subject to a $25 administrative fee. Cancellations with a 30-day notice will receive a refund. Cancellations with a 2-week notice will receive half refund. Cancellations within two weeks of the start of your camp session will not receive a refund. Please call us with any concerns.

Shelburne Farms' Summer Camp Programs are generously supported by our members and special gifts,
including an endowment gift from John & Alice Outwater. Tax-deductible contributions to sponsor these
programs, including scholarships, are always welcome.
