Ninety percent of the brain is developed by age five, and healthy food is vital to brain development in young children. “Rather than teaching students about tomatoes for the first time at age seven, if you introduce these foods at age two, that child’s relationship with healthy eating has four plus years of exposure and depth to it once they enter kindergarten,” Educator Jed Norris shares.

Late summer is a great time to weave more learning into your students’ and families’ meals — the gardens are bursting with produce for all sort of hands-on activities, like quick pickles. Parents, community members, and staff work side by side, crafting traditional momos and samosas, while laughter, conversations, and storytelling in various languages create a vibrant atmosphere. The children, supervised and engaged by attentive staff, explore the gardens and participate in outdoor activities, as they share in the anticipation of the upcoming celebration. This year's preparations are extra special, as a local family has generously donated a goat to be shared and savored by all.

As the day of the Family Supper arrives, excitement is in the air. Families gather at the picturesque Ethan Allen Homestead, laden with their homemade dishes, ready to share their culinary heritage with the community. A long, inviting food line forms, as everyone eagerly awaits the chance to sample the myriad of flavors from around the world. The festive atmosphere is amplified by the rhythmic sounds of live music, the sweet scent of freshly pressed cider, and the smiling faces of old friends and new acquaintances mingling together. To ensure accessibility for all families, transportation and meals are also provided. These community garden programs provide families with control over their own food production, promoting food sovereignty and building strong networks of mutual support. English classes or tutors are also sometimes available, which enables families to learn gardening, food, and cooking vocabulary in a real-life context. This immersive approach can improve fluency and engagement in language learning.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Family Room stepped up to support families in need by delivering locally sourced and gleaned food to over 150 families per week. This service has since transformed into an on-site pantry to increase food security within the community. It offers a wider range of produce and farm shares, including culturally relevant items like green amaranth, bitter melon, and African eggplant. The pantry offerings were informed by research conducted during the food box distribution, which identified items that were meaningful to New Americans and reminded them of home. These specialty vegetables are now grown by Digger’s Mirth and Intervale Community Farm.

Through partnerships with Feeding Chittenden, the Vermont Land Trust, and the Vermont Food Bank, the Family Room has been able to provide families with a unique resource: a goat certificate that allows them to have a goat slaughtered in a culturally relevant way for religious or cultural festivals. These goats are raised at Pine Island Community Farm by a Bhutanese family who came to Vermont as refugees in 2009.

Outdoor activities keep everyone engaged during the Family Supper, including the opportunity to press apples for cider. Through its farm to early childhood initiatives, the Family Room provides families with access to culturally relevant foods, which fosters a sense of belonging and helps to sustain the unique cultural practices of New American families. The Family Supper and other food-related events promote intercultural exchange and celebration, bringing families from all backgrounds together to share in the joy of food in a community where all can feel supported, valued, and empowered. By recognizing the power of food to connect people across cultures, the Family Room is building a stronger, more resilient community that authentically celebrates diversity and helps all families to thrive.

Janet Munt Family Room

Take Your Next Step

Are you an early educator looking to connect your students with hands-on learning opportunities about food, farming, and nutrition? fresh-torn basil leaf, or keeping an ear out for the gloopy sounds that signal cream is solidifying to butter.

Precise measurements, times, and temperatures… not quite as exciting. If you’re cooking with a classroom (or home kitchen) full of young kids, it’s best to have a flexible recipe that’s up for some twists and turns.

And those are just the kind of “recipes” educators Hannah Corbin and Jed Norris shared with participants in Cultivating Joy & Wonder, our annual professional learning workshop for early childhood educators. On a rainy summer day in the Market Garden, the group harvested what was ripe in the fields and hoop houses, and, along with some basic pantry items and camp cooking equipment, they had all they needed to make a feast.

“Kids are so much more open to trying new foods if they see how it is made,” shares Oklahoma-based kindergarten teacher and 2023 workshop participant Jo Anna Perdue.

Back in Oklahoma, Jo Anna Perdue's students learn about the full food cycle as they cook in the classroom during "Foodie Fridays" and tend to the school compost program. As the clock ticks closer to 10:00AM, they keep a close eye on the driveway, excitedly guessing which vehicle might arrive carrying their weekly farm share from Blue Heron Farm.

The truck arrives! As the bags are unloaded, the kids head outside to greet the farmer. This personal connection to the source of the food we eat is important to Laura, who believes that learning about the whole food system is crucial to the children's education in her program.

Back inside, the kids take turns reaching into the bags to unpack their farm-fresh discoveries. It takes them anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes to empty the bag, as they carefully examine and discuss each item, from handfuls of kale to bags of peas, sometimes pausing to look up new foods they haven't seen before. With the help of Blue Heron Farm's shared recipes, the kids have been able to taste new and delicious foods they haven’t experienced before.

1 Minute of Joy: Imagination Island Unboxes Their Local CSA

Digging into Tools & Resources

For over 25 years, Laura Butler has operated her child care center, Imagination Island, from her home in Milton. In 2019, Laura participated in a farm to early childhood professional learning program at Shelburne Farms and immediately recognized the potential to integrate food systems learning into her work and bring her vision of integrated community, family, and meals to life.

Soon thereafter, Laura applied for a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) grant from the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food, and Markets. She needed to find a farm to work with, and she was happy to discover that Blue Heron Farm in Grand Isle was already delivering to her neighbor just across the street. Laura describes the CSA as “fantastic”— it even included extra food to send home with families.

Laura and her class developed a close relationship with Blue Heron Farm Farmer and Owner Christine Bourque, and after the grant year was over, Laura continued the CSA membership, adding egg and chicken shares to her order. The weekly deliveries and local foods became a way for Laura, and the families, to deepen the kids’ understanding of the circle of life and how it relates to the foods we eat.

The Imagination Island crew greet Farmer Christine Bourque as she delivers a farm share on a crisp autumn morning. Photo by Sarah Webb.

The Magic of Community

Laura Butler's commitment to building community among her families and children is a central theme of her farm to early childhood program. Her program not only focuses on providing nutritious meals and snacks for the children in her care, but also on sharing the love of food and cooking with their families.

She includes kids in the kitchen and making meals; over the summer they made pickles, stews, and spaghetti sauce. With every culinary creation, each child received a container of food to take home that evening. Laura explains, "We're not only eating the food in the program, we're sharing the recipes and the food with our families."

The learning and sharing continued in the garden, too. Two families with kids in Laura’s program grew extra crops in their home gardens in order to share the bounty. Laura's garden produced heirloom tomatoes and footlong beans, one family grew a salad garden with cherry tomatoes and lettuce, and another grew butternut and Blue Hubbard squash. Laura says, "To me, the lesson for the kids was that we're all growing things. They're helping in my garden. They're helping in their own gardens. And we're sharing, and that's what a community does: share and help support each other."

Sarah Webb

Take Your Next Step

Are you an early educator looking to connect your students with hands-on learning opportunities about food, farming, and nutrition? There's something for everyone to connect back to their own learning. For high school students, we’ll often talk about what’s happening to the proteins as we shake the cream, for kindergarteners we’re talking about where milk comes from. But the process is always a little magical, no matter the age.”

For Susie, making food together is an opportunity to connect ourselves back to the land and the impact we have on it. “As an educator, I really want to give people the chance to think about the source of their food,” she explains. “Butter comes from a cow, who is cared for by a farmer. That cow eats grasses grown in the soil, so the farmer’s work is just as much about tending to the soil as it is tending to the animals. If you’re not caring for the land, you’re not going to have delicious butter, cheddar, or ripe summer tomatoes.”

Watch how our educators make butter with early learners, and try the activity in your own home this summer:

Farm to Early Childhood Activities: Butter Making & Compound Butters

This video is one of a three-part series highlighting some of our favorite farm to early childhood (FTEC) classroom activities inspired by our publication for early educators, Cultivating Joy & Wonder. We work with educators to connect classroom, community, and cafeteria in order to deepen students’ understanding of food systems and their role within it, and to support farmers by expanding the purchase of local food.

While the Farm to School (FTS) movement began with a focus on grades kindergarten through high school, in more recent years, enthusiasm for this learning even earlier in a child’s life has been building. Similar to FTS, Farm to Early Childhood (FTEC) programs enrich young children’s health and lives—nearly 22,000 Vermont children under age five receive care outside of their homes during the week—through greater access to nutritious foods and a hands-on approach to learning about food, health, and agriculture.

Our FTEC educators, Cynthia Greene and Jed Norris, have been working to build a network of early childhood educators who can learn from and support one another in integrating FTEC concepts into their programs. In tandem, they have also been supporting Vermont FEED to expand opportunities for early educators, including coaching early childhood teams at the Northeast Farm to School Institute, and leading courses and workshop series. We asked them how this newer aspect of the Farm to School movement is growing during this time of virtual learning and how it looks different from traditional FTS programming:

A Natural Fit

While the approach of FTS and FTEC have meaningful differences, the goals are the same: to connect kids with the food they eat and the people who grow it through hands-on learning. “Young children are already outside a lot and exploring their world, it's all exploration and hands-on because that's how they learn,” explains Cynthia. “There's a real wonder behind where your food comes from at this age,” Jed continues. “Young kids have that natural curiosity. It's not too-cool-for-school to like cows and want to be a tractor driver when you're four years old.”

<picture></picture>

If you’ve visited Shelburne Farms, you’re likely to have witnessed the joy and wonder Cynthia and Jed speak of: children’s amazement at digging up a potato from a garden bed, the aha-moment of watching milk come from an udder, or the excitement of attending a chicken parade. “Shelburne Farms’ history and mission with FTS is long and deep,” says Cynthia. “Shelburne Farms recognized the early childhood field for its power, potential, and as an opportunity to really make a change in children's lives. By applying what we know about FTS to the early childhood world, we can change culture and how people look at food systems, sustainability, and even climate change topics.” Shelburne Farms has been supporting educators (and kids!) in this type of learning for a long time, it just wasn’t called “Farm to Early Childhood.” But, this growing national movement has allowed the Farm and Vermont FEED to build new partnerships and expand this work throughout the state.

Accelerating Change

Early education centers and at-home providers offer two standout opportunities to advance the goals of FTS and FTEC: they build deep relationships with families and they can support healthy eating habits early in life.

Within Vermont FEED’s 3C Model (building connections between the classroom, cafeteria, and community), “Community” represents the piece that bridges the in-school learning to local people and places: field trips to farms, volunteering at a food shelf, or visiting a local bakery. And families are no less a part of a community than the people who grow, share, and make our food.

“Families are a primary component of a community, but it extends far beyond that,” says Cynthia. “Most early childhood programs provide wraparound services. Families can eat at the centers, take food home, join in on community activities.” By building in food and farm learning for students, a program is also extending that learning to the entire family. “Early education has so much access to families,” shares Jed. “As a parent, when you have an infant or a toddler, you talk with their teachers about what your kids are eating. Early educators and families are a unit together. It takes a village.”

And if your child is learning about and being fed nutritious foods at their early education setting, it makes a difference. Ninety percent of the brain is developed by age five, and healthy food is vital to healthy brain development in young children. “Rather than teaching students about tomatoes for the first time at age seven, if you introduce these foods at age two, that child’s relationship with healthy eating has four plus years of exposure and depth to it once they enter kindergarten,” Jed explains further.“ And in the scope of our lives, we change more from birth to the age of five than any other time. An early introduction to FTEC can influence a lifetime of healthy eating habits.”

Going Virtual

Pausing in-person professional development opportunities during the pandemic has not slowed the momentum! “Because we had to go virtual, we’ve moved from hands-on learning to interactive workshops using the technology we have at our disposal: digital white boards, group polling, breakout rooms, or applying our typical protocols to an online platform.”

Cynthia and Jed typically use the virtual workshop time together to network, have group discussions, and offer time for participants to share and gather feedback on one another’s projects. The asynchronous time (time outside of the workshop hours) is devoted to review resources. “I've made a lot of videos of the classic FTEC activities with my own kids to show the group,” Jed explains. “You can read how to do an activity, but there’s something about seeing somebody do it, singing the song, to show the spirit of it.”

“In early childhood education, at least in my experience, you work all day, long weeks, and the last thing you want to do is go home research something without a good place to start from,” Cynthia remembers. “We've found podcasts, we've found TED talks, we’ve made videos… We've tried to mix up mediums for educators to review.”

<picture></picture>

Above: a virtual Curriculum Planning Web that supports intentionally embedded FTEC into new or pre-existing activities and learning topics.

The joy that results from the connections and relationships that the FTEC workshops offer — in-person or virtual — is a testament to the importance of this work and the dedication of the early educators. Cynthia concludes, “Jed and I have been doing this for the last several years, and some early childhood providers who have been in the field for a long time have said, ‘Oh my gosh this workshop changed my whole outlook on curriculum and teaching and totally invigorated what I wanted to do!’ Their joy is palpable.”

We’re excited to announce that Vermont is one of 10 states and the District of Columbia to be awarded $90,900 each to strengthen state-level Farm to Early Childhood (FTEC) initiatives for a one-year project period. This opportunity is supported by the Association of State Public Health Nutritionists and CDC of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Read more.

Early Childhood

For Educators

Farm to School

Featured

Off

Add new comment
<drupal-render-placeholder callback="comment.lazy_builders:renderForm" arguments="0=node&1=2808&2=field_comments&3=comment" token="8uAe2ISkFWVpRH25H1196IHMocHBa9MzLjarlnqtPvE"></drupal-render-placeholder>

false
Mon, 18 Jan 2021 19:23:31 +0000 admin 2808 at http://shelburnefarms.org A Farm to Early Childhood Update with Cynthia Greene http://shelburnefarms.org/about/news-and-stories/farm-early-childhood-update-cynthia-greene A Farm to Early Childhood Update with Cynthia Greene admin Mon, 10/05/2020 - 14:16

Like most aspects of the world, the COVID 19 pandemic has greatly impacted Vermont's early childhood system, and programs are struggling to remain open during this time of critical childcare needs. How have they needed to pivot?

The programs I work with have pivoted to meet COVID health requirements and kept their programs open and available to essential workers needing childcare in the early weeks of the pandemic. Now, they are open for their community families, as well. All of these programs offer meals to children through the federal CACFP program, and some have even worked to ensure that families receive extra take-home food through vegetable gleaning and garden crop sharing programs. To make sure families maintain access to food, early childhood programs share food security information with families, including connecting families to school districts serving summer meals, Hunger Free Vermont’s COVID dedicated web pages, and SNAP and WIC resources.

While Farm to Early Childhood activities are being carried out in individual classrooms, program-wide, hallmark events like community dinners, family taste tests of new foods, animal investigations (like hatching chicks), cooking with children, farmer visits, and field trips have been placed on hold. We are seeing programs getting children outside for more nature-based learning.

<picture></picture>

What are some ways you’ve seen program staff come together to creatively address a challenge?

Some programs have developed or focused on onsite gardening this year as a means of connecting to nature and expanding their own learning about gardening. Staff have devoted non-work hours to organize raised bed building days, planting days, and worked to ensure an equitable classroom schedule so all children could gain access to the garden space. As Community Impact Director of the Parent Child Center of Rutland County Beth Miller shared,

“In early spring of 2020, we excitedly began planning our gardens. We received a grant from the Vermont Community Garden Network to build raised beds at our Chaplin site, received seeds from NOFA-VT, and secured upcoming plant starts from local growers. All was going well until March when Vermont went into lockdown due to the coronavirus. Our plans for the gardens were dashed, and the hands-on Harvest of the Month curriculum shifted to online learning.

But RCPCC was not wholly discouraged! In June, when we were able to reopen, we began again. By July 1, with masks and social distance, we built our raised beds. And with attention to social distance, the children planted the seeds and root-bound plant starts. Nothing could stop the plants from growing and bearing fruit! The children anxiously wait for each vegetable to be ready for picking. Harvest of the Month is back to hands-on learning. July’s harvest was cucumber - everyone’s favorite. The kids made pickles with their teachers and kitchen staff, enough to send home with the parents.”

Other teams have investigated virtual opportunities such as farm tours and the farmer correspondence program to connect children to farms. Additionally, some programs shared virtual lessons, like those from Shelburne Farms, with families to access for at-home learning.

<picture></picture>

What menu items are working in this new system? Have you been able to use local food? How have the kids and/or families responded to the new foods? Can you share any tips?

Sourcing local food has not been too difficult during the pandemic. In fact, some early childhood programs have been a reliable market for local farms and producers when schools closed and/or shifted to grab-and-go meals. Programs are procuring local fruits, berries, vegetables, eggs, and meat.

What are your big dreams for Vermont’s Farm to Early Childhood programs? What would you like to see on the other end of the pandemic?

Most of the programs I’m working with have maintained their big dreams for Farm to Early Childhood programming. They’re still dreaming and planning for learning kitchens, robust educational gardens, farm field trips, serving more healthy local foods, and offering whole-family community events. While COVID is impacting their Farm to Early Childhood pace and scale, it has not diminished their commitment to, or vision for, healthy, nourished, and nurtured children and families.

See more Vermont FEED information and resources on Farm to Early Childhood here.

All images from the Parent Child Center of Rutland County, summer 2020.

Early Childhood

Farm to School

For Educators

Featured

Off

Add new comment
<drupal-render-placeholder callback="comment.lazy_builders:renderForm" arguments="0=node&1=2763&2=field_comments&3=comment" token="0xIwJlGFIFh3Py-RfKvn76w6sfPrK4QNZ1oWryjCN10"></drupal-render-placeholder>

false
Mon, 05 Oct 2020 18:16:56 +0000 admin 2763 at http://shelburnefarms.org Farm to Early Childhood Resources http://shelburnefarms.org/about/news-and-stories/farm-early-childhood-resources Farm to Early Childhood Resources admin Wed, 05/20/2020 - 10:17

What is Farm to Early Childhood?

We're sharing our "hub" of Farm to Early Childhood resources created by Vermont FEED, our Farm to School partnership project with NOFA-VT. Farm to Early Childhood (FTEC) offers benefits that parallel the priorities of the early care and education community including emphasis on experiential learning opportunities, family and community engagement, and life-long health and wellness for children, families, and caregivers.

Comprehensive FTEC initiatives enhance the quality of early childhood education programs by meeting multiple learning and programmatic standards. FTEC engages families and communities, supports comprehensive child development, advances racial and social equity, and helps develop the next generation of responsible food consumers contributing to sustainable, equitable and just local food systems.

Farm to Early Childhood encompasses a wide range of programs and activities. The goals are to:

encourage young children to enjoy eating fresh healthy foods while their preferences are still forming

encourage children, families, and staff to develop healthy life choices by offering hands on educational experiences with nutritious food, cooking, gardening, and exposure to local farms and foods systems

foster community resiliency and improve access to healthy food at home and in the community by building relationships with local farms and food system partners

support early childhood quality programming initiatives through alignment with licensing regulations, learning standards, and QRIS systems like STARS

advance social and racial equity.

Farm to Early Childhood in Vermont applies the “3C” approach seeking to integrate classroom, cafeteria/kitchen, and community activities in support of the goals.

In the Classroom

Early childhood offers a unique opportunity in the lifespan to engage young children and their families in learning about health, nutrition, food and food systems all while children are developing their food preferences and health habits for a lifetime. Early childhood classrooms are by nature experiential learning environments where activities like gardening, exploring recycling or composting, learning vocabulary to describe various tastes and textures, cooking, and visiting local farmers and food system partners or inviting them into the classroom all create meaning and connections within children’s worlds. Farm to Early Childhood offers a lens for integrating curricula across learning domains while meeting high quality standards.

Curriculum Resources:

Vermont FEED’s Farm to School: Highlighting Local Fruits and Vegetables: a free downloadable resource created for schools participating in the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP), or for any educators needing ideas for creating learning opportunities in the classroom around fresh food

Cultivating Joy and Wonder: a free downloadable curriculum resource from Shelburne Farms geared for all seasons

Growing Minds and Reach for the Stars with Farm to Preschool: Aligning Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale (ECERS) with Farm to Preschool from North Carolina

Pennsylvania Ready, Set, Grow: Multicultural book lists

Grow It, Try It, Like It! Whether your early childhood setting offers snacks and meals on site or supports families in making and supplying daily foods for children in your care, thinking about food, kitchens, and child and family centered activities that provide exposure to new healthy foods can help form healthy habits for a lifetime. Taste tests, cooking projects, celebrations (birthday, holiday etc.), and family events where food is available all present learning opportunities. Furthermore, establishing a program health and wellness policy which includes guidance on nutrition, physical activity, and self-care sets the stage and expectations for healthy staff, children, and families.

Kitchen & Food Related Resources:

Go NAPSACC: a self-guided assessment program for improving food, nutrition and physical activity policies and standards for your program with a Farm to ECE focused assessment

Healthy Bites: a Wisconsin guide for improving child nutrition

Local Foods and Related Activities in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP): Farm to preschool resources from the USDA Food and Nutrition Services

Improving Early Care Obesity Prevention through the Child and Adult Care Food Program: profiles of child care programs across the country that are using CACFP to improve the nutrition quality of meals and snacks

Local Food for Little Eaters: a purchasing toolbox for the CACFP

VIDEO: Cooking with Preschoolers

VIDEO: Seasonal Snacks for Preschoolers

Kids Get Cooking!: a cookbook with tons of healthy recipes that are easy to prepare with kids. Children, families, and staff learn about their connections to food, farms, and other food system partners through relationship building and activities such as harvest dinners, field trips, and hosting a guest visitor at the childcare location. Farmers can expand their markets to early childhood settings offering meals and snacks as well as through family purchasing at farmer’s markets or CSA activity. All participants benefit and help build protective factors for children and families.

Community Resources:

NOFA Vermont's Vermont Farm & Food Guide: connections to local farms and farmers markets

Vermont Farm to School Network Partners List: statewide efforts and local partners

Shelburne Farms: professional development opportunities

Vermont Community Garden Network: garden planning and support

Food access supports:

Women, Infants, and Children

Hunger Free Vermont

Vermont Foodbank

Vermont CACFP

Vermont FEED’s Grant Resource List

National Farm to School and Early Care and Education: a wealth of farm to early childhood resources, webinars, networking opportunities

Let’s Move! (photo: Courtney Ley Photography)

Everyone made me feel at home right away, and everyone felt the same excitement I did. You could see it on their faces and feel it in the room.

But halfway through the first day, I was a bit perplexed. I had assumed we’d be learning about gardening, composting, recycling, nature, and earth-friendly practices. That is what sustainability meant to me. (I confided in a new friend at lunch and he was as perplexed as I was.)

But I decided not to analyze, and just to enjoy every moment, and learn whatever was offered. From the surroundings, to the food, to the people, this place was magical in every way.

On the last day, with time to reflect, I found that I’d learned that sustainability means SO much more, and that it has so many levels. I learned that community means so much more than I ever thought possible. That what I thought about my “neighborhood” was very close-minded. That my community is a part of my life and that everyone in it is important.

Most of all, I learned how to teach all of this to the future generations.

It took over three weeks to digest what I had learned during those powerful days. The workshop completely rewired my old ways of thinking. I wanted to do everything at once! But I started to write my plans, goals, and priorities down, and I started my new sustainability curriculum.

I spent the rest of the summer and fall on long adventure walks with my children -- exploring, sitting quietly, creating anything and everything with things we found outdoors. The children and I had wonderful new, magical moments. I’ve been reminded what nature looks like through a child’s eyes.

<div alt="" data-embed-button="file_browser" data-entity-embed-display="image:responsive_image" data-entity-embed-display-settings="{"responsive_image_style":"full_width","image_link":""}" data-entity-type="file" data-entity-uuid="9c8b0c82-9dfd-4de1-a8f4-819fa8fb7678" data-langcode="en" title="Children playing outdoors during a day at daycare. We picked, dried, dehydrated, packaged, and shared our bounty with family, friends, and neighbors. Over seven months, using raw sheep’s wool from the workshop, we washed, dried, carded, and made wool dryer balls for each family. We’re also adding a chicken coop to the backyard! The children are so excited!

<div alt="" data-embed-button="file_browser" data-entity-embed-display="image:responsive_image" data-entity-embed-display-settings="{"responsive_image_style":"full_width","image_link":""}" data-entity-type="file" data-entity-uuid="d9110414-b3d5-407f-b792-281fa506f776" data-langcode="en" title="Children gardening outdoors at Tanya's daycare center. At the workshop, I was encouraged to be fully present: to listen, reflect, then respond. That is a huge task for my personality type! Now when we are on walks, the kids and I are mindful as we engage with postmen, store owners, or construction workers. We have lovely chats with neighbors from different areas of the world, even with language barriers. I have more walking field trips planned!

I am so excited to be part of the 2018 alumni weekends. I am already thinking how wonderful it will be to see everyone, and be back at the magical place where it all began.

<div alt="" data-embed-button="file_browser" data-entity-embed-display="image:responsive_image" data-entity-embed-display-settings="{"responsive_image_style":"full_width","image_link":""}" data-entity-type="file" data-entity-uuid="9f2eb0d9-6b3a-4f3c-8cc5-6b481eab7cc0" data-langcode="en" title="Tanya and daycare children. I was so excited to see my program featured in the blog and in the summer catalog! The children and parents just beamed seeing themselves/their children in print! We are really enjoying tending our gardens and the new chickens I have added to my sustainability curriculum. The children are continuing to learn and grow in their sustainable thinking/actions and will teach others!
