Position Objective
This position directly contributes to Shelburne Farms’ mission to inspire and cultivate learning for a sustainable future by supporting food systems education and Farm to School professional learning programs. This position works with teachers and other educators to integrate concepts of sustainability and farm to school into curriculum and into the learning and experiences of students, in coordination with the Director of Professional Learning, the Shelburne Farms education team, and a variety of program partners, including the Vermont Farm to School Network.
This position contributes to Shelburne Farms’ justice, equity, diversity and inclusion work by addressing issues of equity and justice within program content, modeling practices of culturally sustaining pedagogies, designing for equity and inclusion, and collaborating across difference.
Key Responsibilities
- Coaching educators, teams, and whole schools to help them achieve program values and goals
- Facilitating communities of practice to share innovations, tools, and resources
- Co-developing and leading curriculum integration workshops for educators
- Innovating with educators to deliver food systems and place-based programming for students, both on the Shelburne Farms campus and in their school communities
- Planning for and reflecting on programming to align with the organization’s professional learning framework and logic model
- Actively engaging in on-going learning in order to evolve practices to advance the field of food systems education and Farm to School
- Working within existing farm to school networks to expand and advance the movement
Qualifications and Requirements
- Inspired by Shelburne Farms’ mission, vision, core values and strategic plan
- Personally and professionally committed to advancing social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Extensive experience teaching adults and youth
- Commitment to and experience in cultural competency and working with diverse populations
- Strong leadership, communication, group facilitation skills
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Practical pedagogical and content knowledge in standards-aligned, place-based and food systems education
- Extensive demonstrated experience developing professional learning programming, curricula and tools for adult learners both online and in-person
- Skilled and experienced at working in partnership, collaboratively and as part of a larger team
- Master’s degree (as required by accrediting higher education partners)
