Andy Barker has worked in education and socially responsible business for 25 years. He was the assistant farm manager and U.S. history teacher on the faculty of the Maine Coast Semester and was a ‘DaVinci’ humanities teacher at the Gailer School in Shelburne. Then, for 11 years, he worked on Ben & Jerry’s Social Mission team, creating supply chain partnerships and advocacy campaigns in support of sustainable food systems, a stronger democracy, and social and economic justice. In his role with Shelburne Farms, Andy is the Project Director for the Burlington City & Lake Semester, a new partnership to create an immersive semester program for Burlington High School students that uses the city as a real-world classroom. Key program themes include A Sense of Place, Community & Identity, Social Justice and Sustainability. Andy loves poems, home-made music, and underdogs. He lives in Burlington with his wife Ana and daughters Emma and Tess.
