Tom joined Shelburne Farms in 2005 as a member of the senior leadership team. His CFO responsibilities include financial systems and processes; budgeting, financial reporting, and analysis for the twelve operating divisions of the Farm; working closely with the audit team in preparation of the tax returns including the 990; government contract reporting; management of the employee benefit plans such as healthcare, dental, and 401(k); presenting financial information to the Board of Directors and the Investment Committee and Audit Committee; and ensuring that the financial reports are prepared with the highest standards of ethics.
Following graduation from Hamilton College with a degree in Economics, Tom joined the General Electric Company and was recruited for the Financial Management Program. Employed within the Aerospace Group, Tom progressed through several positions within the financial organization. Tom ultimately moved to the International Marketing organization, and was asked to lead a team of marketing, engineering, and contracts personnel in the pursuit of international strategic alliances.
