Utilizing sculpture, textile, video and public interventions, Brigitta Varadi explores the invisible, everyday rituals of working life. Varadi’s research-based practice is an integral aspect of her creative process with each project incorporating experimentation and new techniques. In the summer of 2019, Varadi visited Shelburne Farms as a BCA artist-in-residence where she harvested and processed clay sourced from Farm as part of a two-day community workshop. Exploring the Invisible features a large-scale installation of more than 2,000 ceramic tiles created by artist and community, as well as Varadi’s signature felted-wool panels, and a video performance. The culmination of a year-long project, Exploring the Invisible examines themes of sustainability, craft, and re-discovered traditions.

BCA Exhibitions are funded in part by a grant from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, National Endowment for the Arts, and Vermont Arts Council.
