**Cancelled** 12th Annual Vermont Cheesemakers Festival
With great sadness, the Vermont Cheese Council has announced the cancellation of the 2020 Vermont Cheesemakers Festival. The council has been pondering what to do—postpone the festival, offer alternative events, etc…—and found is that there is no alternative to the festival given the current conditions and our interest in keeping both our vendors’ and attendees’ safety prioritized.
If you have already bought a ticket for the festival, please click here to see your options for cheese buying alternatives, refunds, and donations.
In the last few months, the Vermont Cheese Council has had to pivot, and instead of planning for the festival or running our normal educational programming to train makers to make great cheese, they are mostly trying to help cheesemakers keep their doors open, helping them find grant and other emergency funds, redirecting and identifying new sales strategies to try to make up for the 25-75% losses most of them have experienced, helping them navigate the changing regulations related to operating within our industry at this time, and marketing their products as widely as possible. The Cheesemakers Festival revenues normally fund over 75% of our operations, and without it, like cheesemakers, operations are struggling.
As a cheese festival lover, the Vermont Cheese Council asks that you consider a few options to support both cheesemakers and the Vermont Cheese Council this year, so that they can get the festival back on track next year:
- Buy a “donation” ticket. On the Eventbrite ticketing page, you can “buy” a donation ticket in the ticket options. Select a standard admission value amount or create your own donation value. Your “ticket” value will go to supporting the Vermont Cheese Council and all the work they do.
- Choose to buy a Victory Cheese Box. This is a program the council helped create to help cheesemakers improve sales in response to their COVID-19 losses. Buy a selection of Vermont cheeses online, and a portion of the box revenue will go the Council.
- Do both! This helps you support the Council through to next year’s festival, AND it’s a chance to get a great selection of delicious Vermont cheeses delivered to your doorstep.
We’re so sorry not to be able to see you this year, though we hope to see you again in 2021!Registration Details:
