Lamb Season Pride Hike

Family & Youth Programs

Meander through the sugarbush, visit the lambs in the farmyard, and experience the changing season during this early spring hike at Shelburne Farms.

Pride Hikes are a collaboration between Audubon Vermont and the Pride Center of Vermont, and have been happening every month since June of 2018. The hikes go beyond being welcoming to everyone to creating a safe, affirming space for LGBTQIA2S+ community members.

All ages, allies, and families welcome! Youth under 18 years should be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Sorry, no dogs.

Trail and accessibility information

The hike will follow along cow pasture and farm roads until we reach views of Lake Champlain and the Champlain Valley. It will be at an easy pace and cover 3-4 miles. We are very flexible about the trails we choose based upon the needs of the group. Some trails are flat and wide and on a base of crushed gravel, grass or wood chips, while others are a bit more steep and uneven. Elevation gain is minimal. There are benches and sit spots available along the trail system. Learn more about Shelburne Farms’ walking trails.

As the event nears, Audubon will contact participants about appropriate footwear and other suggested gear. Be prepared to wear weather-appropriate clothing, bring snacks, and have plenty of water.

Indoor, gender inclusive restrooms are available at the Farm Barn near the Children’s Farmyard (the meet-up spot).
