Julie—what an interesting story! Really nice job comparing the past to the present, and somehow comforting to know the similarities.

This is a wonderful article, linking past to present.Having just walked the trails at Shelburne Farms a few days ago, it is so interesting to picture this history happening right there. Thank you, and my gratitude goes out to all those working at Shelburne Farms and for allowing us to enjoy the beauty there. It is a welcome "escape".

What an interesting article, Julie! Just proves that history does repeat itself and to see and appreciate the continuity of how we, as a community, can help. It was great to get Amanda's suggested mask pattern to add to all the helpful others that are "out there"!

To support the hand sewn masks that Amanda makes and to provide them to friends and family in Arkansas, Van you purchase them from Amanda?

This is fascinating, Julie, and shows such a direct parallel to our world today. The photos are wonderful. Thanks to Amanda and all the other VT elves who are making such much-needed and creative masks. Wish I could help (wish I could sew!!!)

Hi Julie,

An uplifting account of our connection to History through the lens of Shelburne Farms; and how it is that the "People", as Carl Sandburg said, the common people, always rise up to carry humanity to safe harbor; to a new promising future for us all.

Sincerely,
Jacques-Paul Marton

Julie, What a wonderful article. When I think of the Webb family, I think of the kindness and respect that they always showed to people, and to the land. And when I think of Shelburne Farms today, I see those qualities reflected in each and every one of you. Many thanks to the mask makers. We will all be together again soon.
