Position Title:  Guest Services Swing Manager           

Supervisor:  Assistant Inn Director         

Employee Status: Seasonal, Full or Part Time

Location: Onsite (99 Inn Road, Shelburne, VT 05482)

Start & End Date:  April 28 -October 26, 2025 (required onboarding & training in late April and early May)

Salary Range: $20 - $25/hr

Work Schedule: 7-day operation, AM & PM Shifts available (8AM - 3PM, 1PM - 8PM); some weekends and holidays required

(The Inn’s front desk is open seasonally, May - October, each day from 8AM - 9PM)

Who We’re Looking for

You share our deep commitment to the Farm’s mission and vision as you will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming and comfortable environment. You enjoy mentoring and learning from your staff to help them grow. This role is essential in providing exceptional service to our guests. You will support the team who is the first point of contact for visitors at the inn, ensuring a warm and welcoming experience.

 

What You’ll Do

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Oversee front desk, reservations, guest service staff, and housekeeping during your shifts.
  • Assist in training new staff for reservations, front desk, and guest attendant positions
  • Cover shifts as needed for reservations, guest attendant, and front desk staff.
  • Partner with the Inn Director to lead, mentor, and inspire a team of dedicated staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Lead by example and work side by side with your teams. This is a hands-on supervisory role and the best way to give in the moment feedback is to be working alongside the reservations, front desk and guest attendant staff.
  • Facilitate ongoing training, are clear with your directions, receptive and open to feedback, and are patient as your team learns the ropes.
  • Value team members’ differences and thrive when working with a diverse team. You are comfortable working with individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds, experiences and skill levels.

Guest Experience:

  • Oversee guest check-in and check-out processes to ensure efficiency and satisfaction.
  • Address guest inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.

Operational Excellence:

  • Support the Inn Director in ensuring the  maintenance and cleanliness of guest rooms, public rooms, guest cottages and grounds.
  • Participate in and provide general support of the programs and operations of Shelburne Farms as needed, including guest services for events, special facilities projects etc.
  • Support and assist the reservations coordinator, including reservations systems, contacting repeat guests, taking deposits and sending out confirmation emails 

Mission Ambassador: 

  • Uphold the values and mission of Shelburne Farms in all interactions by welcoming all.
  • Share the story and work of Shelburne Farms with guests.
  • Share programs and activities that are happening all across the Farm, along with ways to engage in the Farm’s mission beyond programs or activities.

 

Core Qualifications

  • Available to work weekends and holidays as we’re open 7 days a week from May - October.
  • Leadership experience in any capacity.

 

Additional Valued Qualifications 

  • Hospitality and other relevant management experience preferred.
  • Comfortable working with Google Suite tools.

 

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Available for a seasonally demanding work schedule.
  • Moving up and down 1 - 2 flights of stairs while carrying items weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Being active for extended periods of time and working in settings with limited air conditioned work environments depending on the location.
  • Moving over uneven terrain.
  • Working in a fast-paced environment.
