Position Title:  Line Cook        

Supervisor:  Executive Chef

Employee Status:   Seasonal, Full Time 

Location:  On-site (99 Inn Road, Shelburne, VT 05482)

Start & End Date:  May 1st - October 31st (required onboarding & training beginning in late April)

Application Deadline: Early March with interviews beginning in mid-March

Salary Range:  $20.00 - $25.00/hour ($15 - $20/hour if living in free staff housing)

Schedule:  7 day operation; Typical schedule is 7am - 3pm or 2pm - 10pm,  and days worked depends on schedule  and your availability

Housing: Free on-site housing available for this role however it may impact your base salary

You are a passionate and dedicated Line Cook who is excited for the opportunity to work in an environment that promotes sustainability through the culinary experience. The Inn at Shelburne Farms plays a crucial role in this mission by providing thoughtfully sourced, high-quality meals that allow our guests to engage with the concepts of sustainability through their food. 

 

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and serve delicious, nutritious, and sustainably sourced meals for guests.
  • Prep and cook food using approved safe food-handling practices.
  • Support the team’s sustainable culinary practices, including reducing food waste, composting, and utilizing every part of an ingredient.
  • Support team efforts to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain the integrity of the food served and the commitment to the farm's organizational mission.

 

Core Qualifications

  • Passion for preparing and sharing locally sourced, simply prepared and beautifully presented, great tasting nutritious food.
  • 3 years or more savory cooking experience. 
  • Self motivated, team player with flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Excellent knife skills and extensive understanding of various cooking techniques 
  • Inspired by the Farm’s mission, vision, core values and strategic plan.

 

Additional Valued Qualifications 

  • Maintain a positive attitude under pressure.
  • Ability to work weekends and some holidays as needed.
  • Opening experience is a plus.

Work Environment & Physical Demands 

  • Being active for extended periods of time and working in settings with limited air conditioned work environments depending on the location.
  • Fast-paced work environment. 
  • Carrying and moving items up/down stairs and over uneven terrain, weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Indoor and outdoor work environment. 
  • Moving over uneven terrain. 
  • Maintaining a tidy shared workspace.

 

Benefits 

  • Free employee housing may be available at Shelburne Farms for this role, however not required to live on site. This benefit will impact your base pay rate.
