Position Title: Welcome Center Guest Services & Sales Associate
Supervisor: Welcome Center & Farm Store Manager
Employee Status: Seasonal, Full Time & Part Time hours
Location: On-site (1611 Harbor Rd, Shelburne, VT 05482)
Start & End Date: May 1 - October 31, 2025
Salary Range: $16/hour
Schedule: Store is open 7 days a week, 10am - 6pm and your schedule depends on availability
We require all seasonal employees to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.
Weekends and holidays are required to be considered for the role.

Who We’re Looking for
You will directly support the mission of Shelburne Farms by connecting our visitors and guests with our local farm products, the programs offered across the farm, and the many ways to explore the farm. You have a passion for agriculture, and while you may not have previously worked on a farm, you’re enthusiastic about sharing farm products with the community.
Our Welcome Center and Farm Store is more than a place to learn about Shelburne Farms and buy local food but is also where we inspire learning about sustainability. Working with the Welcome Center and Farm Store team, you will provide exceptional, culturally responsive customer service practices.
What You’ll Do
- Welcome visitors into our busy Farm Store, answer questions, and guide them to the appropriate products and services.
- Answer phone calls and in-person inquiries by representing the guest services for all farm services, programs, activities and products offered at Shelburne Farms.
- Operate Point of Sales (POS) system to process each customer’s transaction.
- Ensure shelves are continuously stocked and look to leadership for merchandising guidance.
- Unpack, price, and stock newly arrived products.
- Support our continuous effort to build and sustain a welcoming and diverse working and learning environment for all visitors, guests, and staff.

- Commitment to schedule: All Farm Store staff are required to work some, if not most, weekends and holidays throughout the busy season (May - October), and a minimum of 10 hours/week.
- Mission-Aligned: Your primary focus is listening to, learning from, and supporting all folks who engage with our Welcome Center & Farm Store in a meaningful way that aligns with our mission and core values.
- Receptive & open: Skilled in graciously receiving feedback from colleagues and management and open to continued professional learning.
Additional Valued Qualifications
- Tech: Comfortable working with computers, including a Point of Sales system (we use Square).
- Retail: No formal retail experience is required; some related retail skills will be helpful as you begin learning this role. Other engagement-focused experience is equally as valuable.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Carrying and moving inventory up and down stairs.
- Unloading and processing deliveries.
- Carrying items weighing approx. 40 lbs.
- Commitment to contribute to and maintain a tidy shared workspace.
- Facility maintenance functions, including cleaning floors and restrooms.
- Other duties related to providing retail and guest services indoors and outdoors.
- Indoor and outdoor work environment.
- Working in varied weather conditions.
- Move over uneven terrain.
