Early Spring Wildflowers & Plant Adaptation

Adult Programs

Spring is in the air and familiar wildflowers like trillium, hepatica, bloodroot, and trout lily are blooming. On this walk, we'll learn about the natural history of these and other ephemeral beauties and discuss special features they've adapted to thrive so early in the season. Instuctor Hayley Kolding will guide participants in the observation of the native pollinators that rely on ephemerals to get an early start in the spring.

Hayley Kolding is a UVM Field Naturalist, an educator, and president of the Connecticut Botanical Society. She has collaborated with the Native Plant Trust, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, the Association to Preserve Cape Cod, and local land trusts on land stewardship, public engagement, and conservation research projects.
