Position Title: Communications Coordinator
Supervisor: Communications Director
Employee Status: Year-round; Part Time (20 hours/week)
Location: in-person, Shelburne, VT
Start Date: Start by Fall 2026 or sooner (application deadline: July 3, 2026)
Pay range: $22 - $24/hour
Who We’re Looking for
Working closely with the Communications team in this support role, the Communications Coordinator will successfully implement Shelburne Farms’ content strategy over its social media channels (Instagram, Facebook), website channels (home and 3rd party sites), and support the print needs of the organization across multiple departments, all to build the Shelburne Farms brand, elevate its nonprofit mission, cross-promote engagement, and enroll our many programs.
What You’ll Do
Manage social media channels (50% of your time)
- Schedule and execute content on Shelburne Farms social media channels based on biweekly newsletters, events calendar, and special promotions as assigned, using existing (or drafting brand-aligned) templates, graphics, images and text (4-5 posts per week).
- Monitor and respond to public and private questions/comments/misinformation across our channels in consultation with the Communications team as needed.
- Respond to brand mentions, amplify or share content from brand ambassadors, partners, and customers.
- Listen, document, and report weekly on post performance, pain points, insights, and sentiment gleaned from social media with the Communications team.
- Contribute content/photos to weekly internal & community e-newsletter as needed.
Web content updates (25% of your time)
- Support web content updates on shelburnefarms.org, including updates to online calendar events.
- Maintain & monitor Shelburne Farms up-to-date presence across 3rd party sites (e.g., Google, Trip Advisor, HelloBurlington, Kids VT, SevenDays).
- Monitor and respond to public questions/comments/misinformation across 3rd party sites in consultation with the Communications team as needed.
Print publications management (25% of your time)
- Update design, order, and maintain routine publications across Shelburne Farms departments (letterhead, product labels, inn materials).
- Manage inventory and onsite distribution of print publications and resources.
- Update and manage tabling, point-of-sale, and marketing materials.
Core Qualifications
- Professional experience in managing social media on behalf of a company or organization. Expert knowledge of social media platforms, mainly Facebook and Instagram.
- Facility with or willingness to learn web content management system, e-marketing software, and project management software.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
- Excellent written communication skills with care for the details.
- Willingness to learn and abide by brand guidelines and best practices.
- Proficiency in Google WorkSpace.
Additional Valued Qualifications
- Photography and/or video skills.
- Familiarity with utilizing social media analytics to measure effectiveness.
- Experience with Sprout Social (or similar social media dashboard) is helpful but not required.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Move up to 25 lbs. (carrying boxes of publications)
- Traverse uneven terrain if on photography assignment
