Collaborative Design/Build Intensive

Adult Programs
Yestermorrow building project

From the first sketch to the final nail, participants in this program will work with Shelburne Farms staff to bring a project to life. Learn to think through your hands, master carpentry basics, and experience the Jersey Devil's legendary approach that has challenged architectural orthodoxy since 1972. Led by Jersey Devil design/build founding members Jim Adamson and John Ringel, alongside architects William Bialosky of Bialosky New York and Sylvia Smith, FAIA, partner emeritus of FXCollaborative, this two-week intensive reunites the designer and the builder.

Yestermorrow Design/Build School inspires people to create a better, more sustainable world by providing hands-on education that integrates design and craft as a creative, interactive process. They teach design and building as an integrated process through hands-on education. They offer over 100 classes in carpentry and woodworking, specialty and artisan trades, land and community planning, and more.

Students who come to Yestermorrow are place-makers or change-makers; DIYers and professionals; undergraduates and lifelong learners; hobbyists; and those seeking a career or life change. Courses are taught by top architects, builders, craftspeople, and permaculture practitioners from around the country and designed to empower students to create intentional and inspired pieces and places that enrich life and enhance our world.
