The State of Farming Film Screening & Panel Discussion

Join us for a screening of The State of Farming, a new documentary that shares powerful stories of farming in Vermont through the voices of the farmers who live it every day. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Vermont farmers.
 

The film offers an honest, firsthand look at the opportunities and challenges shaping Vermont agriculture, from food production and local economies to water quality, environmental stewardship, regulations, and the future of working lands. 

Agriculture has always been more than an industry in Vermont. It is the foundation of our landscape, economy, and identity. The open fields, local food, iconic scenery, and thriving rural communities that define Vermont exist because generations of farmers have worked hard to steward this land. 

Yet farming has never been more challenging. Rising costs, volatile markets, labor shortages, unpredictable weather, and changing regulations continue to place significant pressure on farm families. Despite these challenges, Vermont farmers continue to innovate, expand conservation practices, produce nutritious food, and strengthen the communities around them.

Supporting Vermont agriculture means more than buying local products. It means recognizing the people behind those products, understanding the realities they face, and ensuring Vermont remains a place where farms can continue to thrive for generations to come.
