Matt's work is fundamentally about strengthening, renewing and rebuilding relationships. An avid naturalist, tracker, and gardener, Matt is inspired and guided by the wisdom of nature and the language of the land. At Shelburne Farms, Matt facilitates adult programs, provides support for land management decisions, and provides organizational support for issues of diversity and organizational learning practices. When not working at Shelburne Farms, Matt is a full-time faculty member in the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Vermont, where he teaches courses on power and privilege, ecology and natural history, sustainability, systems thinking, problem-solving, and educational design. His research explores principles and practices that create conditions for transformational learning. Matt also works as an educational and ecological consultant for a variety of organizations-- helping reconnect human patterns with ecological principles, rhythms, and cycles.
