Farm to School
Meet the Jr Iron Chefs
This winter, two teams of Shelburne Community School students joined Shelburne Farms chefs and educators in the Coach Barn kitchen to prepare for the statewide Jr Iron Chef VT competition. Over two months of after-school sessions, our teams worked together to craft and perfect locally-sourced dishes from scratch.
More than 6,000 middle and high schoolers from across Vermont have participated in Jr Iron Chef VT since 2008. The career exploration program and competition promotes Vermont's Farm to School efforts, teaching students about local food while they knead, dice and sauté their way to success.
