The Big Ideas are concepts that we can find in our daily life and experiences, standards and curriculum, and food systems. Curricular examples listed for each grade level illustrate how classrooms engage in farming, nutrition, and sustainability in their school and communities. We share essential questions that drive the learning and assessments for each of the student investigations. We hope you find inspiration from these examples and link your Farm to School efforts with Big Ideas.

Shelburne Farm Institute for Sustainable School Director of Professional Learning Jen Cirillo published an article about the Big Ideas in the Summer 2019 Kappa Delta Pi New Teacher Advocate.
